Quick-Add Citations to Collections#

The collections page has a quick-add bar at the bottom for adding citations without leaving the page.

Search Tab#

  1. Open Collections

  2. Select a collection

  3. Type in the quick-add bar at the bottom: a DOI, ISBN, or free-text query

  4. Press Enter or click Search

  5. If multiple results appear, click the correct one

  6. The citation is added to the active collection and formatted immediately

Examples:

  • 10.1016/j.mex.2026.103851 (DOI)

  • 978-0-521-85629-7 (ISBN)

  • Goswami MethodsX 2026 (free-text)

  • Henkelman climbing image nudged elastic band (title keywords)

Manual Tab#

  1. Click Manual in the quick-add bar

  2. Fill in the form: type, title, authors, year, journal, volume, issue, pages, DOI, ISBN, URL

  3. Authors go one per line in “Family, Given” format

  4. Click Add to collection

Manual entry is useful for unpublished works, grey literature, or references that CrossRef doesn’t have.
