Resolve a Messy Citation#

When you have a citation from a PDF or old document but no DOI:

  1. Switch to the Paste tab

  2. Paste the citation text (one line)

  3. Click Find it

  4. If confident, the result appears directly. Otherwise, pick from candidates.

Tips for Better Results#

  • Include author names, year, journal/publisher, volume, pages

  • Strip footnote numbers or reference markers ([1], (a), etc.) – OokCite does this automatically

  • For classic textbooks, use ISBN lookup instead

What If the Wrong Paper Is Matched?#

Click Edit to switch to manual entry with the fields pre-filled. Fix the incorrect fields and click Format.
