Import and Export Citations#

Import and Export Citations#

Import BibTeX or RIS Files#

  1. Open a collection on the Collections page

  2. Click Import

  3. Drag and drop a .bib or .ris file onto the drop zone, or click to browse

  4. OokCite parses the file and adds entries to the collection

  5. Duplicates (matched by DOI) are skipped automatically

Supported formats:

  • BibTeX (.bib): standard LaTeX bibliography format. Parsed with the biblatex library.

  • RIS (.ris): Research Information Systems format, used by many reference managers and databases.

Export BibTeX#

Click Export .bib on any collection to download a BibTeX file. Citation keys use the Better BibTeX pattern: authShorttitleYear (e.g. goswamiTwodimensional2026). Keys are unique within the export – duplicates get a, b, c suffixes.

Copy Formatted Bibliography#

Click Copy all formatted to copy the entire collection as rich text in the selected style. Paste directly into Word, Google Docs, or any rich-text editor.

Per-Entry Copy#

Each entry in the collection view has a Copy button that copies that single formatted citation.
