Search by Author, Title, or Keywords#

OokCite doesn’t require a DOI. You can search by any combination of author name, title, journal, and year.

How to Use#

  1. Go to the Identifier tab (or the quick-add bar on the Collections page)

  2. Type a free-text query, e.g.:

    • Einstein relativity 1905

    • Goswami MethodsX

    • Henkelman climbing image nudged elastic band

  3. Press Enter or click Look up

What Happens#

  • DOI-shaped input uses exact DOI lookup in the local corpus before bounded provider fallback.

  • ISBN-shaped input uses exact ISBN lookup in the local corpus before OpenLibrary fallback.

  • Other text is segmented into bibliographic fields and searched against the local citation corpus. OokCite combines lexical, structured-author, exact, and configured semantic candidates before ranking them. External providers are fallback sources when the local result is insufficient.

Multiple Results#

If the search returns multiple candidates, you’ll see a list to pick from. Click the correct one and OokCite formats it.

If there’s a single high-confidence match, OokCite picks it automatically.

Tips#

  • Include the year to narrow results: “Smith photosynthesis 2020” works better than “Smith photosynthesis”

  • Journal abbreviations work: “Goswami JCTC” finds papers in J. Chem. Theory Comput.
