Look Up a Citation by DOI or ISBN#

  1. Go to the Identifier tab

  2. Paste a DOI (e.g. 10.1038/187493a0), a DOI URL (https://doi.org/10.1038/187493a0), or an ISBN (e.g. 978-0-521-85629-7)

  3. Click Look up or press Enter

  4. The formatted citation and in-text marker appear

OokCite checks its local citation corpus first. A DOI miss can use Crossref, DataCite, and DOI content negotiation; an ISBN miss can use OpenLibrary. Results may be cached, but a cache hit still consumes lookup quota unless the identifier is already saved in one of your signed-in collections.

Free-Text Search#

The same input also accepts free-text queries. If the input does not look like a DOI or ISBN, OokCite searches its citation corpus by author, title, journal, year, and other bibliographic evidence. See Search by Author, Title, or Keywords for details.
